There is a dedicated Compliance Team at the PGE Group. The Director of the Compliance Department reports directly to the Management Board and the Supervisory Board. Compliance Coordinators are appointed in companies and branches – separated in the organizational structure directly under the Management Board / Branch Director and with a parallel reporting path to PGE. The Compliance area in the entire PGE Group is approx. 60 people.
To ensure their independence, their appointment or dismissal must be preceded by consent or consultation with the Director of Compliance at PGE. Among the employees of PGE Group companies, people who train employees on the Code of Ethics and anti-corruption policy have received special training. In addition, some PGE Group companies concluded an agreement with an external company – an expert in ethical standards – for the service of the so-called An „Impartial Adviser” who acts as a helpline and advisor in the area of mobbing, discrimination and harassment.
Safe work is a priority at PGE and is subject to continuous improvement. The inconsistent awareness of work safety among employees of subcontracting companies resulted in the creation of a system for identifying safe behaviors among employees of subcontractors. Those who are actively involved in improving work safety and report near-accident events are awarded. In order to increase the level of safety in PGE Energia Ciepła companies, „Zero Accidents” Training Centers were established to raise awareness in the area of health and safety. Security News is an example of building a safety culture.
Once a week, employees of PGE Energia Ciepła companies receive an e-mail with a message for each day. They are read during internal meetings. The H&S management methods used at PGE GIEK bring tangible results to the improvement of working conditions for employees. Branch authorities are obliged to implement the goal set by the management board of PGE GiEK in the form of constant improvement of the health and safety condition by implementing specific objectives in accordance with the adopted assessment criteria. Tasks resulting from the adopted H&S improvement programs and tasks resulting from annual reviews of working conditions are implemented. Persons managing employees and supervisors are obliged to diligently organize and supervise the work of their subordinate employees, with particular emphasis on not tolerating deviations from safe behavior.
In 2019, PGE Dystrybucja received the „Green Card of Safe Work Leader” of CIOP Warsaw for the constant improvement of the level of work safety. The company meets not only the formal requirements in the field of health and safety, introducing work instructions, procedures, equipping employees with high-quality protective equipment, including work clothes. PGE Dystrybucja also conducts a number of informal activities promoting safe behavior when working on power devices, such as publishing the periodical „Bezpiecznik” or the implementation of the award-winning „Fashion for safety” project. In addition, the company is also a member of the Leaders of Safe Work Forum – an organization that develops a safe work culture through everyday activities.
Last year, PGE Dystrybucja also participated in the project entitled „Mobile stand for visualization of the acoustic field of noise sources with the use of direct measurement of acoustic velocity in the near field”, implemented by the Central Institute for Labor Protection – National Research Institute in Warsaw, as part of the fourth stage of the multi-annual program entitled „Improvement of safety and working conditions”, co-financed in 2017-2019 by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy. An innovative measurement method used during the research on the visualization of the acoustic field of noise sources was a HV transformer and a power generator used in PGE Dystrybucja. The results showed that during the operation of the HV transformer, both the noise level and the impact of the electric field on the environment are compliant with the applicable standards.
